Pay per click (PPC)
Pay per click (PPC) is paid-for advertising, the best know examples are the "Sponsored Links" on the top and left hand side of the Google search page.
Whilst this type of advertising is not for everyone it certainly has its uses and can be an affective part of an overall marketing campaign. These campaigns are most effective when used across a selection of search engines.
Pay per click (PPC) works by bidding a certain amount for a particular keyword, if your bid is high enough then your link will appear in the "Sponsored Link" area of the search engine, you only pay when time someone clicks through to your website.
To structure an effective Pay Per Click (PPC) campaign we need to follow these steps:
- Establish the keywords and phrases relevant to your marketing campaign.
- Examine the financial cost of appearing at or near the top for that phrase.
- Agree a budget, which is then split into daily amounts.
- Construct the appropriate adverts.
- Analyse the effectiveness and modify the campaign accordingly.
